This Membership Application page for the South Dakota Firefighters Association should ONLY be used for Organizations/Individuals who are NOT current members of the Association, it is meant for NEW Members Only.  If you are looking to renew your EXISTING Membership in the organization, renewal notices were sent in November.  If you would prefer to do your renewal electronically rather than by mail please contact info@sdfirefighters.org and we will get that set up for you.

The two membership options for active Fire Departments are the 100% Department Membership and the Department Only Membership.

The Individual membership is NOT intended for Fire Departments, but rather intended primarily for individuals who may have retired from the Fire Service or active Firefighters whose Department does NOT purchase a Department membership.  Its a great way to stay involved with the SDFA and support the betterment of the South Dakota Fire Service.

The Associate membership is intended primarily for Fire Service related businesses/vendors.  Its a great way to stay involved with the SDFA and support the betterment of the South Dakota Fire Service.

Quick note:  The 100% Department Membership is our most popular membership with 230+ departments in the State choosing this option due to the benefits provided to the Department members.

ALL SDFA Membership types are per Calendar Year, annual billing is typically sent beginning in mid-November for the upcoming year; allowing Departments/Agencies the flexibility to use funds from either their current year budget or waiting on payment until January 1st and using funds from the next years budget.

NOTE:  In order to purchase the additional coverage insurance coverage available with a 100% Department Membership, your Department must pay their 100% Department Member SDFA Dues and payment to Fischer Rounds & Associates for the additional coverage must be POSTMARKED prior to January 15th

100% Department Membership cost of $25.00 per Rostered Firefighter with the Department/Agency Annually

Provides the Following Benefits:

  • A copy of the SD Firefighter & EMT Thoughts Newspaper Publication mailed to EVERY ROSTERED FIREFIGHTER every month
  • The highest discount levels on South Dakota Firefighters Association hosted events (State Fire School/Conferences/Etc...)
  • Insurance Benefits
    • $10,000 of Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance per ROSTERED FIREFIGHTER, this coverage applies ON or OFF Duty. 
      • The ability to purchase up to $250,000 additional AD&D at a cost of $45 per $50,000 in coverage per ROSTERED FIREFIGHTER
      • NOTE: To purchase the additional coverage your Department must have paid their 100% Department Member SDFA Dues and payment to Fischer Rounds & Associates for the additional coverage must be POSTMARKED prior to January 15th
    • $10,000 of LINE OF DUTY Accident & Health and insurance (A&H) 
      • This coverage may cover such things as Disability, Family Expense Benefits, Education Benefits, Income Replacement
    • The combination of these two policies could provide up to $20,000 in total coverage for a Line of Duty Accident/Injury
  • First Responder Assistance Program provided by Provident  for all Volunteer Firefighter, Volunteer EMS and Volunteer Dispatchers in South Dakota
    • Mental Health Services, Stress Management, Depression, Family Conflict, Anxiety, Grief & Loss, Relationships, Financial or Legal, Addictions, Problem Gambling, Child and Elder Care
  • Voting privileges at SDFA Membership Meetings
  • Eligibility to sponsor a high school student application for a $1,000 Educational Scholarship
  • The ability to post NEWS, EVENTS, JOB POSTINGS, DEPARTMENT RAFFLES FUNDRAISERS, etc...to the SDFA Website and Members Area
  • Supporting the general activities of the SDFA
    • Membership Services and Networking
    • Legislative / Lobbying
    • Participation in State Emergency Services Related Committees/Task Forces
    • SD State Fallen Firefighters Memorial & Annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Services
    • National Fallen Firefighters Memorial
    • Financial Assistance to SDFA Districts for regional Fire Training
    • State Fire School
    • Conferences

This membership is intended primarily for Fire Service related business/vendors who wish to support the efforts of the SDFA.  It is a great way stay involved with the SDFA and support the betterment of the South Dakota Fire Service

Provides the Following Benefits:

  • A single copy of the SD Firefighter & EMT Thoughts Newspaper Publication mailed to you every month
  • Some discounts on Vendor/Exhibitor/Sponsorship may be offered on South Dakota Firefighters Association hosted events (State Fire School/Conferences/Etc...)
  • Advertising opportunities on our website and a listing in our Associate Member Directory
  • Supporting the general activities of the SDFA
    • Membership Services and Networking
    • Legislative / Lobbying
    • Participation in State Emergency Services Related Committees/Task Forces
    • SD State Fallen Firefighters Memorial & Annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Services
    • National Fallen Firefighters Memorial
    • Financial Assistance to SDFA Districts for regional Fire Training

This membership is intended primarily for individuals who wish to be involved with the SDFA and the SD Fire Service.  Those who belong to a department that does not purchase a membership, those who may have retired from the Fire Service and individuals that simply want to support the efforts of the SDFA.  It is a great way stay involved with the SDFA and support the betterment of the South Dakota Fire Service

  • Some discounts may be provided South Dakota Firefighters Association hosted events (State Fire School/Conferences/Etc...)
