SDFA MLFTU TRAIN THE TRAINER - SENIOR Live Fire Instructor - Sat.

Saturday - Full Day Classes

Summary
Participants must have a minimum 3 years of experience as a SD or other Accredited Fire Service Instructor and must be a current member of the South Dakota Society of Fire Service Instructors. Class will be roughly 8 hours in length. This class covers all of the material contained in the LEAD Level Class in addition to detail on trailer operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair. If you take the SENIOR level class you do not need to take the LEAD level class. Day will start with classroom session covering Overview, SOGs, Best practices, Theory of Operation, Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Safety, Daily Checklists, Sensor Calibration, Etc... Following the classroom session hands on training with the trailer Setup/Operation/Shutdown guided by instructors, after lunch Setup/Operation/Shutdown done by class participants. Participants will be given the opportunity to operate the unit, and participate in some basic fire suppression evolutions to experience behavior of the fire props Recommend work boots and gloves for Setup/Shutdown activities and Full Structural PPE with SCBA and spare cylinder.

Live Fire Training – Live Fire Attack & Technique

Sunday - Full Day Classes

Summary
Training will consist of a short AM classroom session covering basic principles of Safety, SCBA and Fire Streams. The remainder of the AM and all afternoon will be spent doing hands on training with Live Fire. Participants will put their knowledge and skills to use in the two-story Mobile Live Fire Training Unit. Any students needing to fulfill the ‘Live Fire Training’ portion of their SD FF Certification Blue Card should bring it to class. Equipment Requirements: Students must have full Structural PPE (including hood) and SCBA in GOOD & SERVICEABLE condition that was NFPA compliant at manufacture date. If possible a spare SCBA cylinder should be brought as well. Instructors: South Dakota MLFTU Instructors - Instructors who complete the train the trainer class on Saturday will be instructing and assisting.

'The Attack from the Black training video encourages firefighters to think ahead—not just in the moment—while fighting wildfires, and stresses the importance of wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment.' (Note: Class subject to change in the event instructors are on an active wildland fire assignment.)

Summary
All Hazards Vehicle Class - Class size 25 The Training Under Fire EV (Every Vehicle) Fire Training System encapsulates a new approach by firefighters to ALL vehicle emergencies. It includes situation-specific hazard awareness, strategic and tactical considerations, recommended special agents, equipment, and tactics. It includes reviews of recommended operating guidelines and specialty training for firefighters expected to fight vehicle fires in the EV Era. This course includes a review of recommended operating guidelines, and access to SOP templates. The course addresses parking structure and enclosure involvement. The course includes teambased hands-on training exercises for firefighters expected to execute coordinated vehicle fire tactics to save lives in the EV Era. Bunker Gear
