Auto Extrication

6 Hour All Day Classes

Auto Extrication, 6 hour all day course (limit 20) This course will cover basic-advanced vehicle extrication using struts, cribbing, hand tools, and hydraulic tools. (Rescue or Structural PPE Required)

FDC–School Sprinkler & Alarm Systems, 6 hour all day course This class will cover the basics of fire protection systems. This class will cover the why, where, and how systems are installed. This class will discuss system operations and the fire departments use and operation of these systems. There will be a question-and-answer session for anyone that has questions about a specific system in their coverage area.

Summary
Hose Movement & Nozzle Flow, 6 hour all day course This will be a fast paced, hands-on class that will not only provide tips and tricks to make students more efficient on a hose line, but also explain the “why” behind tips and tricks. This class will focus on everything hose and water application from the engine to the seat of the fire. Utilizing hands-on repetition, the goal is to give each student an opportunity to better understand the hose load used in their fire department as well as how to be most effective while flowing water. (Bunker Gear will be needed. Regardless of the forecast, there is a 100% chance of rain)

Firefighter’s Round Table, 3-hour morning course This course is designed for any firefighter no matter what your experience level. Join in on an open forum on a wide variety of topics related to the SD Fire Service. Past Round Table Discussions have been very beneficial and have addressed many questions, concerns, and issues through networking with others. One of the main topics will be the South Dakota Firefighters Association’s new website.

Avera SIMS Trailer

3 Hour Afternoon Classes

Summary
Avera SIMS Trailer, 3-hour afternoon course There will be a Pediatric Burn classroom session followed by a simulation hand on session. Also, there will be a Trauma Management classroom session followed by a hands-on session. Note: Students who attend and pass this course will receive credit hours towards either their EMR or EMT hours. Instructors: Avera SIMS Trailer Staff
