SDFA Mobile Live Fire Training Unit INSTRUCTOR CADRE Train The Trainer

Registration for candidates will be open until the end of February.

Their are 2 Mobile Live Fire Training Unit (MLFTU) systems that have been purchased, are under construction and will be delivered later in 2023 (~Late April & Late July).  We are looking to assemble a large Cadre of instructors that will be able to put these trailers to use.

Train the Trainer for the MLFTU Trailer. Training will be on troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and setup. Along with operation of the unit. 

First training will be held in Huron following delivery of the first unit. Additional trainings will be offered at State Fire School and later in the year when 2nd unit is delivered with more to follow as needed.

Their will be 2 tiers of SDFA MLFTU Cadre.  The senior level covers ALL aspects and a minimum of at least 1 Senior Cadre member will be required at all training events, any number of Lead Live Fire Instructors will be used based on class size, other individuals and instructors may also be used to assist in training evolutions as needed.  This training is NOT intended to train individuals on how to instruct live fire training, but rather is intended as training to instruct trainers on how to use the Live Fire Training Prop.  Potential candidates should already have experience with live fire training.

• SDFA MLFTU Senior Live Fire Instructor - Train the trainer class will be ~8hrs
  • Supervise Setup
  • Daily Checklists
  • Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Calibration, Operation
  • Overall responsibility of each training event to insure safe and effective use
  • Assist in providing training activities using the MLFTU training prop
  • Must have 3 years of experience as SD or other Accredited Fire Service Instructor
  • Must be a current member of the South Dakota Society of Fire Service Instructors
• SDFA MLFU Lead Live Fire Instructor - Train the trainer class will be ~4hrs
  • Assist in providing training activities using the MLFTU training prop
  • Must be a SD or other Accredited Fire Service Instructor
  • Must be a current member of the South Dakota Society of Fire Service Instructors

Our current plan is to have 1 Senior Live Fire Instructor Train the trainer in late April and offer two of them at State Fire School (1 per day).  Also at fire school we will offer two Lead Live Fire Instructor Train the trainer classes (1 each afternoon)
