Black Hills District School - Fall 2024

Classes will be located at the Belle Fourche Fire Hall, 605 National, Belle Fourche, SD 57717.

Registration Fee: $20 (Lunch is included) Registration information to come.

Saturday, September 21st

SENIOR LEVEL Train the Trainer - Class Size is Limited to 15 Students

This class will focus on proper set up and safety procedures to host and instruct burn classes with the state burn trailer. (Note: As a requirement, only state certified fire instructors may take this class.)

Bunker gear/SCBA is required

Sunday, September 22nd

State Burn Trailer Live Fire Class - Class size is limited to 15 students

This class will focus on fire attacks utilizing the state burn trailers. Instructors who complete the train the trainer class on Saturday will be instructing and assisting.

08:00 to 17:00 Tentative

Break from 12:00 to 13:00 for lunch and Black Hills District annual meeting and elections. Live fire class to continue after annual meeting.

Wildland Fire Attack from the Black "The Attack from the Black training video encourages firefighters to think ahead—not just in the moment—while fighting wildfires,and stresses the importance of wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment." (Note: Class subject to change in the event instructors are on an active wildland fire assignment.)

Black Hills District Positions Open for Election

President Elect - (One Year Term then becomes President, election fall school 2024)

Representative to the South Dakota State Fire Association - (Board will handle filling this term of Don Ward by appointing a new representative. Election fall school 2026)

Central District Director- (Term ends fall school 2024. Must be from Meade or Pennington)

South District Director- (Fill term to end fall school 2026. Must be from Custer, Fall River, and Oglala Lakota)

Secretary- (Appointed position by District board

Pricing

Your South Dakota Firefighters Association provides $14,000 ($2K per District), per year in financial assistance to help offset the instructional costs of providing Regional District Fire Schools. We also provide additional financial assistance to help cover the costs of using the MLFTU units at regional events.

Registration fee of $20 which includes lunch. Registration fees will be collected on site at the registration desk.
